Conservatories are universally loved throughout the UK. From huge extra rooms where lavish Christmas parties take place to the perfect light-filled reading snug, they come in many shapes and sizes.
To add the perfect finishing touch to your conservatory, big or small, it’s worth considering a skylight. Skylights allow natural light to cascade down on your space, giving you a room that’s brighter, lighter and more airy, even on the dullest of days.
Say hello to Mr Blue Sky
If you’ve invested in a conservatory, we imagine your dream is to create a bright space where you can relax in the warmth of natural light all year round. A skylight adds to this vision, allowing you to bring three times more natural light into your conservatory than if you relied on traditional windows.
In the winter months, we’re less inclined to use our conservatories because there are fewer hours of sunlight. Adding a skylight to your space maximises on the amount of light you can get – helping you funnel all of that vitamin D down while you enjoy a coffee and some Christmas cake. Increasing the amount of light we experience is especially important in winter, when we’re all in desperate need of the energy it gives us for those festive parties.
Switch up your style
If you’ve had your conservatory for a while, it might be time to freshen it up. A new skylight allows you to ‘play’ with natural light, creating different shapes and a new depth to your space.
If you’re after a more traditional look, our lantern skylights are one of the most popular. The angle of the glass helps to channel light centrally so you can create natural spotlights without the need to turn on electric lamps.
Picture the perfect snug looking out over your garden, with the warm sun cascading down through a pyramid of glass. For the most compact conservatories, our pyramid skylights can give you idyllic symmetry. Designed to meet at a point, pyramid skylights really add the wow factor to your space – and look just as impressive from outside as they do from within.
If an angled roof doesn’t match your aesthetic, a flat skylight is a stylish way to create an even, balanced spread of natural light. This is one of our most flexible options as we can work with square, rectangular or even octagonal conservatories.
Let your space breathe
If you’re adding a new conservatory to your home, or updating an existing build, installing a skylight can bring you more than natural light.
Our skylights can be adapted to include ventilation to get a healthy flow of fresh air around your conservatory – ideal for those fresh, wintery days. This helps to clean out those airborne germs that linger in your home throughout the festive season, causing annoying coughs and colds that don’t seem to end.
Manage temperature
Even in winter, when the sun starts to shine, temperatures can quickly rise in a conservatory, making it stuffy and uncomfortable. To help with this, our skylights are available with solar control glass. This reflects approximately 60% of the sun’s heat and is available in blue or neutral colourings. The neutral version has a slightly grey tint.
For when it really starts to get cold, our skylight can also help to keep your conservatory warm. All of our skylights come with double or triple glazing – helping with insulation which will save you money over the years.
